Ken Loach’s (Kes & Looking For Eric) new movie Route Irish opened yesterday in the UK, back when it played at the London Film Make It or Break It Season 2 Festival I caught up with Trevor Williams, Andrea Lowe, Mark Womack and Ken Loach in this quick series of interviews.
Brooks and Fox to Appear in Knocked Up Spin-Off?Being big Judd Apatow fans here at SGUK it’s safe to say that this new Knocked Up Modern Family Season 3 spin-off has us chomping at the bit. The film is a semi sequel to the 2007 comedy hit following the lives of Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann), the b-plot couple from the original movie.
If you remember the original film Pete the vampire diaries box set and Debbie were having a rocky time with their relationship and now we get to see how much worse it can get with this latest offering from Apatow, who is writing and directing.4F39500149264DE474AA8FA4C67379D1

So far very little news has been released on the project (though I’m hoping for it to be titled Knocked Down) but today we got hayao miyazaki box set dvd some casting news, it appears that Megan Fox (Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen & Transformers: Dark of the Moon) has accepted a role.
Nothing is known about the character she plays but I assume she will throw a spanner into the works of Pete and Debbie’s marriage two and a half men dvd set (either that or they’ve aged the children). The last few Fox films have been box office disasters (if you exclude the Transformers series, her career has been filled with disasters… actually you could include them and it would still be filled with disasters) not to mention she’s not exactly a critical darling, her latest film Passion Play has Make It or Break It Seasons 1-2 DVD Box Set received such a critical drubbing on the festival circuit that it is going straight to DVD (and that movie has Bill Murray and Mickey Rourke in it, she dragged them down with her).
Clearly not the greatest of omens for this movie, but then again I’m one of the few fans of her work in Jennifer’s Body and who knows, she might have some hidden comedic talent, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Clearly not the greatest of omens for how i met your mother box set this movie, but then again I’m one of the few fans of her work in Jennifer’s Body and who knows, she might have some hidden comedic talent, we’ll just have to wait and see.
The real exciting news is that Apatow The Office (US) Season 8 is trying to lock down the great Albert Brooks (Broadcast News, The Simpsons Movie) to play Rudd’s dad. Apatow pulled of great paternal casting in the original Kncoked Up by casting Harold Ramis and Seth Rogen’s father, and he’s done it again. This choice is fantastic and it would be great to see Rudd and Brooks working off each other as they are both very funny people (see what I did there).
It looks like Brooks has not accepted the role yet, so this is all still just speculation but if this is the direction Apatow wants to go Rules of Engagement Seasons 1-4 DVD Box Set with the movie then consider me a very happy fan. The film is expected next year, but if you can’t wait for your Apatow fix until then check out this well reviewed hit from SXSW.

The only film I have a real wan to see is the new comedy Hall Pass. The film stars Owen Wilson as a sexually frustrated married man Project Runway Season 9 whose wife (Jenna Fischer) gives him a “hall pass”, a week off marriage.
This film has had horrible reviews but I have a huge love for the work that The Farrelly Brothers have put out over the being human season 3 years (Stuck on You is one of the most underrated comedies of the past 10 years) and the trailers did make me laugh, but the plot doesn’t drive me wild. The cast also includes funny people such as Jason Sudekis, Stephen Merchant, J.B. Smoove and a comedic turn from the great Richard Jenkins. I’ll be seeing this over the weekend but I have very low expectations. Check out the trailer after the jump.
Aaron Eckhart stars in this weeks big alien invasion movie, Battle: Los Angeles. The film is another one where evil aliens invade Glee Complete Season 1-2 DVD Box Set America and the army fight back, wonder if that could be a parable for anything? If so, it’s very subtle. I find this film to look dull, loud and pretty unoriginal (Michelle Rodriguez playing a strong woman in the army? Never seen that before), there’s no real draw (apart from Eckhart) for me to see this film. Here’s a cast interview.

Never seen that before), there’s no Make It or Break It Season 2 real draw (apart from Eckhart) for me to see this film. Here’s a cast interview.
What happened to Doug Linman? In the 90s he offered audiences both Swingers and Go, two films packed with wit and originality, both are in heavy rotation on my DVD player. He now seems to be an action director (offering us Traveler Season 1 some good stuff with The Bourne Identity but was then quickly usurped by Paul Greengrass) and his latest film Fair Game seems to continue with this trend. Based on a true story, Naomi Watts stars as a C.I.A agent whose cover is leaked by the government after her husband (Sean Penn) writes a damning article on the Bush administration.
To be fair the plot sounds pretty damn The Mentalist Season 4 DVD Box Set interesting and far more thought out than Linman’s recent efforts (Jumper and Mr. & Mrs. Smith), plus a strong cast with pretty good word of mouth. I’m going to try and check this out if I can find somewhere near me playing it. Here’s the trailer.

The films this week (excluding Hall Pass) seem keen on imitating real life and The Company Men runs with the theme. As a result of the recession three men lose their jobs at a large company, we follow their journey on Modern Family Season 3 how they deal with the loss and how it impacts them and their family. A great cast including Ben Affleck, Tommy Lee Jones and Kevin Costner are the biggest draw for this movie and I’ve heard pretty good things about it. Sadly I’ve missed twothe big c season 1 dvd chances to see the film but I do intend to see it, if not on release then definitely on DVD. Here’s the socially relevant trailer.
Everyone’s favourite Karate Kid, Hilary Swank returns to the screen this week with new horror flick The Resident. Swank plays a divorcee doctor who has moved into a new apartment, everything seems to be Terra Nova Season 1 DVD Box Set going well until she discovers that her new landlord (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) has developed a strange obsession with her.
Firstly I must say that I’m happy to see Hammer producing films again, but I wish there was something a little more kooky about the films they put out than this, it seems pretty generic for a company that developed its own style of horror film. I probably won’t check this out… maybe with some friends on DVD, but definitely not on the big screen. Here’s the spooky trailer!

So I love Submarine, it was one of my favourite films last year and easily the best thing I saw at the 2010 London Film Festival. This the vampire diaries season 2 dvd film tells the tale of Oliver Tate, a young confused Welsh lad who has to deal with subjects like love, divorce, adultery, growing up and of course, the burden of every great character: egotism. The film is lovingly crafted by actor turned csi las vegas season 1 director Richard Ayoade and offers brilliant performances from a cast that includes Sally Hawkins (Happy-Go-Lucky), Paddy Considine (The Bourne Ultimatum), Yasmin Paige (The Sarah Jane Adventures) and Craig Roberts (Being Human).
The film is released later this month and to celebrate this The London Comedy Film Festival (LoCo for short) are screening the hayao miyazaki collection dvd movie on March 18th with a Q&A from Ayoade, Hawkins, Robert, Paige and author of the book on which the film is based Joe Dunthorne, the screening will take place at the wonderful Curzon Soho, come along and you might run into a certain ScreenGeek. You can find more details here and book tickets here.
